We got a great response from the pilot project with Truebeck Construction. We are planning to expand it to several other customers over the next year.

User flow for authenticating a member

Using the member’s QR code to authenticate badges

I worked on wireframes to come up with the user flow on how to authenticate a member. We put the member’s QR code in the side bar for easy access. A badge master can access the badges table when he taps ‘Scan QR Codes’.

We conducted user testing and determined that the users find it easy when the first scan authenticates the user to get into a bus or jobsite while a subsequent scan lets them get off.

Assigning a badge from user profile

Admin can also assign a badge in User Directory when he’s editing a user. This helps them to easily assign badges when they add new

users. It also serves as an alternative way to assign users badges instead of going to Badges section.

Creating and editing badges in Settings

Before the users can be authenticated, creating the badges is the first step. We decided to have a separate Badges section in Settings where the admin can create new badges as well as edit the existing ones.

The admin can add badge masters and assign users to the badges. He can group badges to keep them organized.

A badge is a digital marker granted to specific users. Those users can be verified for owning a badge by scanning the QR codes associated with their profiles.

Research

We had numerous calls with our customers to understand the pain points and gained new insights into how they want to use authentication on their job sites.

I collaborated with the PM and backend to understand the structure as a team. We came up with three different roles that come into play in the system. They are as follows:

1. Admin

Creates badges and assigns badge masters and members.

2. Badge Master

Members with this privilege can scan QR codes using their device with Struxhub app installed.

3. Member

Users with Struxhub account that have QR code associated with their profile.

Brainstorming with the product manager and the backend developer

Enterprise customers wanted a way to track workers’ time and equipment usage.

on their construction sites. Struxhub team came up with the idea of using QR codes due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity. Also, its adoption rate is steadily increasing.

One of Struxhub’s biggest customer, Truebeck Construction, wanted an easier way to track the time spent by workers commuting to the construction site. Along with this, they wanted to keep track of equipment usage as well as authenticate certifications by workers
